AERIAL YOGA AT EYP

A CHANCE TO DEFY GRAVITY, TO PLAY, TO FLY AND SOAR THROUGH THE AIR.  Our Aerial Yoga at Elevate Yoga PGH offers authentic yoga in an aerial hammock with an experienced certified aerial yoga, Yoga Alliance teachers. Within an Aerial Yoga class students are supported in a soft aerial hammock to explore traditional asana both in the air and on the ground. The Aerial Hammock suspension system has a wonderful therapeutic value that can support 100% of your weight, ease pressure, create space in your joints, decrease compression in your spine, and help you find more mobility. You can invert in the hammock without putting pressure on your head or spine as you would in classic inversions.  Aerial Yoga can strengthen your body, find correct alignment in yoga poses, facilitates lymphatic detox and rejuvenate your spirit.  An Aerial Yoga class is great for all students of all ages , beginner and advanced, where you can be a kid again!  Please read the section on how to prepare for aerial yoga prior to your first visit.   Elevate your mind, let go of fear and put your body into poses you couldn't imagine yourself doing.  Uplift your mind & body!

How to prepare for aerial yoga

ARRIVE ON TIME

Please arrive to class 15 minutes early so that a hammock is correctly set to your height.  All aerial classes require pre-registration.  Please make sure you have an account created, signed the online waiver,  paid for class and signed up to reserve your hammock prior to arriving to the studio.  There is a 2 hour class cancellation policy to avoid being charged for class.

DRESS APPROPRIATELY

No tank-tops.  Please wear a shirt that covers your underarms completely (t-shirts work best).  Avoid wearing shorts or very baggy clothing.  Capri leggings are the best for aerial.  Do not wear jewelry, belts, or clothing with zippers, buttons, gemstones or anything that could potentially snag the fabric.

GOOD HYGIENE

Refrain from the use of lotion on your hands and feet before class.  Observe good personal hygiene, underarms and feet.   Please wear clean clothes to ensure the cleanliness of the hammocks.  Trim your fingernails and toenails.

QUIET PLEASE

Please do not bring cell phones into the class room.  Your 100% attention to class is important.

EMPTY BELLYS

Avoid eating or drinking acidic liquids about an hour prior to class. Having a small solid snack in that time frame is fine.

TALK TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Talk to the instructor before class if you have any medical issues that prevent you from inverting or putting pressure on your skin. If you have a spinal injury or medical condition, please check with your doctor first before coming to class.

Please follow the same etiquette as you would for our regular yoga classes.
